Travel Planning

Working with teachers, pupils and their parents, we have produced travel plans for several schools. School travel plans are designed to provide green alternatives to travelling by car.

A plan includes a summary of the school's transport and road safety problems, proposes initiatives to address these problems and sets out a programme for implementation and monitoring.

Initiatives that can have a real impact on school travel include cycling trains, walking buses, walking chalking and route identification using geographical analysis of pupils' options. Many of these initiatives are promoted in the Safe Routes to School programme.
